Hothlanta 2011

That's the best catchphrase for our winter storm 2011. It is especially poignant as Jack has spent the past two days reaching new levels on his Lego Star Wars game for the Wii.

The kids have built snowmen, sledded down big neighborhood hills and had a great time. Day 3 of school closings is tomorrow and I suspect cabin fever will hit hard!

Here's our yachty snowman.

Happy New Year!

Dave and I spent New Year's Eve at The Park Tavern. He, of course, was there in an official capacity with the Yacht Rock Revue while I merely enjoyed the free drinks, food and festivities. The band sounded great and the crowd was amazing.

As we pulled out of the parking lot at 1:30am I had flashbacks to New Year's Eves past while we watched girls throwing up or at least looking like they were about to do so, people fighting and just all around debauchery.

Merry Christmas!

Here's our annual Freeman Family Christmas Photo! Every year we have three criteria for choosing the photo:

1. How do I (Mom) look?
2. Is Reggie happy? In many of the discarded shots, Reggie appears to be attempting to escape from a horrible prison.
3. Is Jack being appropriately silly.

There is no mention of Dave in the criteria because the man is so damn photogenic and always looks good.

Merry Christmas!

"You Can't Catch Me - I'm the Gingerbread Man"

On Tuesday, Jack ran the entire way home from the bus stop singing "You can't catch me, I"m the Gingerbread Man." I couldn't help thinking about what a wonderful time this is for him and us. He's studying fairy tales at school and while we've read them before or he spent some time on them in preschool, they are having a much bigger impact on him. They incorporate the tales into their school work and he really has a chance to jump into them feet first.

Plus his favorite part was when the fox caught and subsequently ate the gingerbread man. You've gotta love it.

Happy Thanksgiving

We spent the day at Nonna and Grandpa's house along with Kristen, Brad, Jenny, Cooper and Emma. Maize and Reggie were there as well - they were in charge of clean-up.

We had a great time and the cousins certainly had a terrific time playing with each other throughout the day. Jack and Cooper had the kitchen table to themselves and proceeded to duel with lightsabers throughout most of dinner. A perfect Thanksgiving.

Oatmeal

Okay, weird title, right? It's also a bit bland but this morning Jack ate his entire bowl of oatmeal (with brown sugar, of course). Why the post? Because getting Jack to eat the entire "*" of anything is an accomplishment and it deserves acknowledgement.

Family Fitness Night at Kincaid

Jack and I ventured out to one of our first Kincaid events last night - Family Fitness Night. You could order healthy Subway sandwiches but of course, we brought peanut butter! After dinner, we took a yoga class, jumped some rope and learned a little karate (I believe the official terminology is tae kwon do). At first Jack was shy about joining the tae kwon do class but after he watched for about 10 minutes, he joined in the next group and really enjoyed it. I will have to look into some possible lessons as they really stress respect and discipline.

We're gearing up for a relaxing weekend. Dave has Friday and Saturday night off...rare these days...so it should be a nice weekend.
